Bucktail is a popular material most used for making streamers - there
is a whole generation of these lures, the so-called "Bucktail
Streamers". It is also used to make some modern salmon flies. The guard
hairs of this fur are excellent for imitating the tail filaments of
winged mayflies and mayfly nymphs, as well as antennae. When knitting
realistic bactail flies, legs are often formed. The back of the bactail
is one of the most rigid, has no tendency to curl, does not differ in
helicity, straight, pronounced conical shape. The baktails are available
in natural colors and in a variety of natural and attractive colors.
They are also used to make Miuras Mouse lures.
