Wapsi Woolly Bugger "marabou" feather (replacement) - feathers calibrated to create the legendary Woolly Bugger fly. In the original, these are downy feathers of the African marabou ostrich, painted in different colors. Currently, they are almost universally replaced by a similar turkey feather, which is not much different from the original. However, the name "marabou" has taken root and is used among fly fishermen. This feather is used for tying "live", mobile tails of flies, and it is also possible to wind this feather on the shank of the hook to form the body of the fly. Very lush in the air, these feathers sharply reduce their volume after getting wet. In standing water, during a pause in the wiring, they slowly and attractively fluff up, creating an attractive game. Currently, it is a very popular material for tying various types of flies from sea to freshwater, from large streamers to small nymphs.
