The cover feathers of the mallard (Latin: Anas platyrhynchos - in English: Mallard), taken from the lateral surfaces of the body, are a traditional material for tying traditional trout, grayling and "generally used" flies. They are also used when tying salmon flies. The feathers are distinguished by their pronounced transverse stripes, and have a black and white color. Feathers are offered in natural colors and tinted in different tones (without the disappearance of the transverse stripes).
